Hey everyone, I'm going to set up my Sugarplum Boutique shop at this event on Saturday, and Calvin is going to sell his Pablo Candy-Finger Cards! Please stop by and see us, and please buy one of Calvin's sweet little cards, would ya? :) He wants to use the "orphan money" this time to help orphans in Kyrgyzstan have a special Christmas. The entire holiday bazaar is a benefit for missions (a trip to the Domincan Republic to an orphanage), so please save some of your holiday gift shopping for Saturday, and buy meaningful gifts for a great cause!

There's even a Kids Zone, so if you need a few hours to run errands around town, you can have a moms-day-out for a donation!

I'll be at Hope Community Church in Andover on Saturday December 4, 8 am - 5 pm! The entire holiday bazaar is to benefit missions, so I hope you'll stop by to shop for meaningful holiday gifts!!!

If you need a custom bow to match that special holiday dress, contact me soon! I am going to try to be done with custom orders by the first week of December and not lose focus on my family and the holiday season.

Earlier this week I set up with samples of all kinds of hair stuff at the school Calvin attends, where they have uniforms. Proceeds are going to Drawn From Water. Please check out their ministry if you don't know about them yet!

Birthday Bows

I haven't completely dropped off the map with bow-making during this domestic adoption. I've had a few custom orders to match dresses for weddings coming up soon, bows to match my friend's stuff, finally got Fallyn's rainbow-stripe pigtail set made, etc.

This weekend I made this birthday bow for a special little 6-year-old's party we went to. I love how it turned out! It's all I had of the "make a wish" ribbon, but if you need a custom birthday bow, I can do something similar, or something completely different! Let me know if you need a special bow for that special outfit.

The doo-dads are glued on with an industrial-strength glue if you're worried about the little parts. They are HARD to pull off, trust me!

Update! (and Helping an Adoptive Family)

I'm SO behind on letting you all know that Rick and I decided it'd be best to not take on a big project (the dresses and donated dresses in previous posts) for March. He was overwhelmed and I was overwhelmed, just with life in general. Then about a week or so after that decision, we started talking more about making a decision about whether to do a domestic adoption during the Kyrgyzstan delays. We decided that we would pursue a concurrent adoption. So now we're in a whirlwind with that process, so the decision a week before was definitely the right thing, for more reasons than we knew! Please add our family blog to your subscriptions and follow our journey! Because of the need for parents open to any race/ethnicity, this could go VERY quickly. . . we'd appreciate your support and prayers!

I thought about restocking the Etsy shop with some spring/summer items, but that isn't going to happen. . . As always, though, you're always welcome to contact me for a custom order!

Good Timing for Pillowcase Dresses!

Right after I wrote my last post about vintage pillowcase dresses, I read something on a blog I follow and decided it WOULD be a good time to sew a few and see how it goes! The blog is Real Hope for Haiti Rescue Center, and I encourage you to check it out.

They are asking for donations of--get this--pillowcase dresses! The dresses are perfect for the orphanage because they're light and breezy.

I decided it's fine time, then, to start on some vintage pillowcase dresses. If you purchase one from Sugarplum Boutique, your purchase will also include a handmade dress that will be sent to the orphanage in Haiti! I have a couple friends lined up who have a heart for orphans and are great sewers who are willing to sew the donated dresses. Thanks, ladies!

Once I get some pictures and more information ready, I'll hopefully be able to take some orders this week! I'm a little nervous, honestly, because I know not everyone is "into" vintage or appreciates it. :) But I hope that there are at least a couple buyers out there, considering the double-whammy of helping orphans--the purchase going toward orphans/adoption in the first place, plus the dresses that are going to the orphanage!

Vintage Dresses?

I've always wanted to expand Sugarplum Boutique *someday* to include sewn items made with sweet vintage materials... I'm sewing Fallyn's Easter dress from a vintage sheet and wondering if I should make a couple extra dresses at the same time to try to sell... And some pillowcase dresses. I love pillowcase dresses. I don't mean just pillowcase-style, because there's lots of those out there. I mean the real deal...sweet little sundresses made from actual pillowcases. I have a stash of adorable vintage pillowcases just waiting for the right time to expand to include stuff like that in Sugarplum Boutique.

Since there is so much hand-sewn stuff for babies and kids out there these days using modern prints, I don't want to try to compete with that. Plus, I just looove those sweet original vintage prints so much, not to mention the vintage softness that you can only find with vintage pillowcases and sheets. There's just nothing like it!

The main dilemma is the time commitment as a SAHM with young kiddos. These years are priceless and I'll never get them back. And I'm being protective with these next several months since our firstborn goes to Kindergarten this fall, plus there are so many things I need to get done around my own house! So all that, coupled with the gamble that there may or may not be buyers out there, the time it takes to put it on Etsy...

What to do, what to do...

Perhaps I can coerce one or two of my sewing friends, like this gal, to help a little... :)

Still Here...

Quick post before Rick and I leave for Iowa for his school's last homecoming! The smallest school in Iowa is closing after this year. Check out a couple pics here--you'll be impressed!

Well, I've enjoyed a break from bows this month. The busy season a couple months ago just took it out of me! Trying to think through how much to do this spring/summer... How much to focus on the Etsy shop, preparing for shows for 2010... I've realized this month just how busy last fall and December was. In the end it was worth it, but it really was too much of a toll on our family. It was a bit of an experiment to see how many shows I should do in a season, so I kinda just had to go for it and see.

So this month I've been more rested (which is a huge benefit to my family), and I've had much more time I have to spend quality time with the kids and get things done around the house. I don't have the desire yet to pick it back up to speed, restock the Etsy shop with new pics and listings and all that jazz. A big part of that is the fact that Calvin is going to Kindergarten next fall! I never wanted a part time job having young kids at home, so I need to figure out how to keep this at a "hobby level" as best as I can for now.

AND, we're hoping that adding another child to our family (via adoption) is not TOO far off in our future. My nesting instincts are kicking in, even though it's likely we could have another 12 months or more ahead of us. But time flies with young kids, so it's really not all that much time. I want to spend more time focusing on things I've wanted to do for my kids and our home, and I've already got some of those things done this month! Keep an eye on our family blog for pics of fun projects--I spent last weekend with boards and a saw making a castle for outside play (pics as soon as it's painted!), I've got a spaceship project lined up for Calvin's room, robot PJ pants for Calvin, a little makeover for our living room, Fallyn's quilt...

All that being said, I am DEFINITELY still taking custom orders, you can still stop by to buy bows, you can still shop the Etsy shop... I'm just kickin' back a little for now.

The kids love to "help".

Tara and I each had our own booth space side-by-side and opened it up into one big space. We loved our location being alongside the wall of the gym....perfect spot for our stuff. And Fallyn, who spent the 2nd day with me. She loved her little perch. Check out Tara's new machine--if you need any custom embroidery (monograms, names put on blankets or shirts, etc.), she's your gal! She's GOOD.

Outfit for my niece, sewn by Tara. The skirt is an adorable tiered skirt and so well-made! Of course I had to make matching bows!

Special pigtail bows for my niece, who told me her favorite colors are "pink and orange together." I cannot for the life of me, get pink to show up in photos very well. Doesn't look so hot here, but they're really cute in person.

Fallyn's Christmas bow, which matched the dress from Grandma perfectly, as well as a dress I sewed for her out of this fabric. No green in this fabric, but I just had to use the gorgeous jewel! So cute with a plain ivory top, too.

This ribbon is too sweet! It matches so much with shades of green and pink!

Vintage earrings turned into hair clips!

Get exactly the size and colors you want with a custom order! Here's a small order I did for a friend, who picked her perfect size and ordered a few basic colors, with a little sparkle in the middle (no extra charge) to add a little somethin' to a plain bow.

New Items, Ebay, and the WINNER!

Here are the most recent additions to the Etsy shop! This little flower clippie has been a bestseller at shows and to other customers. I love the fact that these little flowers suit any age! There are more varieties of small flowers on Etsy.

These are my newest product! I just started making these in time for the last show I did. They are real-feel hydrangea petals... they're so gorgeous I think!

This is the biggest bow I have made to date, with the widest ribbon I carry (2.25"). Right now I only have it in light ivory. You can contact me if you really like this size and want it in more colors. Depending on what you need, I may be able to add it to my next bulk ribbon order.

I snatched up this brown/ivory snowflake print ribbon as soon as I saw it! I only have 2 available, so snatch it up in the Etsy shop if you like it! I love versatility, and this bow would span all the winter months, not just Christmastime! I am keeping one for Fallyn to dress up her plain ivory shirt or her brown sweater.

Here are some 5" bows made with 1.5" wide grosgrain in colors that would match many of the holiday dresses out there. They're in the shop, and you're not limited to just these 4 colors (dark red, white, light ivory, brown), that's just all I had ready for a pic. Let me know if you need a jewel in the middle instead of the plain knotted center. It's an inexpensive way to add a little something special to a plain bow!

The Ebay fundraiser raised.....drumroll....................$1,000!!! A big thank-you to all who bid on the items to help the kids!

The garlands are no longer available. There are still Kyrgyz flower clips/lapel pins in the Etsy shop. There are only TWO 3-in-1 flowers left! The 3-in-1s and large flowers make fun hair clips for girls, OR pins for the ladies on your gift list! You can stick them anywhere--scarves, hats, bags, sweaters...

There is a big batch of Kyrgyz goods up for auction on Ebay. Follow this link and start bidding! John from actofkindness bought all these items from an orphanage they work with--they are all made by the children!!! He already blessed them by buying all these things, and blessed us by getting them back to the states so folks with a piece of their heart in Kyrgyzstan can enjoy them in their homes! All proceeds from the Ebay fundraiser will go back to the orphans...John and his team will use their discretion as to what exactly it goes toward. The items are so well made...wish you could see them all in person! The detail is just incredible! I'm starting my Etsy shop with these flower clips for a fundraiser for Kyrgyzstan, plus there are a few fall and Halloween items. I will be adding more and more items over the next few weeks, so stay tuned!

You won't find these anywhere else! At least, I don't think so :) I bought all the flowers and garlands that they had left from the former Volga River Trading Company, a charity organization who used to sell Central Asian handmade goods. They don't exist anymore, and the gal who ran it sold me all the flowers and garlands they had left.

The flowers and garlands are made in Kyrgyzstan from 100% Kyrgyz wool felt.

Proceeds will benefit the orphans of Kyrgyzstan, so shop shop shop!

Flower clips are for now ready for sale in my Etsy store--www.sugarplumorphans.etsy.com. There are 3 different styles. The colors are SO perfect for fall/winter (and beyond!).

Unsung Hero of Sugarplum Boutique!

All this would NOT be possible without my dear husband. So leave a comment and give a shout-out to the one who really makes this possible! :) I always appreciate him, and I am thinking of his support even more during this busy bow-season (craft shows coming up, Etsy shop opening soon).

Rick is such a key player in this venture by...

...allowing me to put time (sometimes a LOT) into making products even though it means more work for him (taking care of the kids by himself, etc.)
...having a heart to give to orphans and adoptions. I'm grateful to have a spouse who is willing to sacrifice, rather than insisting that this be for us. (Although some of it will go toward our adoptions, it's not for the sake of having more money to spend.)
...tending to the kids when I'm busy. Often times he'll take the kids to the Y while I get things done.
...letting me purchase yet another big order of bulk ribbon.
...being willing to watch the kids by himself for an entire Saturday and give up a family-day when I have a show.
...setting up my new serger for over an hour.
...not minding if I fall even more behind on things around the house. He'll even pick up much of the slack, going down to the basement to work on laundry (without my asking) and things like that.
...putting up with my bow messes. I can't believe I'm showing you this! Currently, though, our table is not so bad. But often times it looks like this on the table, various places on the floor...

...sacrificing time with me after the kids go to bed while I'm working on stuff. He kisses me goodnight, then heads to bed, always with a "Don't stay up too late." :)
...helping me with bow work sometimes! Here he's working on butterfly antennae :)

Recent Bows

New design from Pablo Candy-Finger Cards--the popular "Uh-oh Alien", now with underwear! Calvin--I mean Pablo Candy-Finger--says they're saying uh-oh because they forgot their pants.

He's started doing these in pairs--a happy robot and a sad robot.

My sister-in-law ordered this sister set for some friends, a 7 yr old and a 3 yr old. When asked what her favorite color was, the 3 yr old replied, "Mom, I know I'm supposed to like pink, but baby blue is my favorite color." Cuteness! (Why it looks bright in the pic, I don't know.)

Here are a few examples. The first pic is the "dainty" style--an XL dainty. It's made with a 1 1/2" wide ribbon and measures barely over 3" wide. Perfect for infant thru older girl! ($4.50)

I have lots of clippies I'm working on that I don't have pics of yet. If you want a pic, let me know. They're
made with the same ribbon that's used for the middle in the XL Dainty. I have white star doo-dads to add on, red stars, flags, red/white/blue stars... Or just plain red/white/blue with no doo-dads.

I'm only making extra of the clippies and the bow in the top picture. I'll make any other items by custom order--pigtail sets, big girl bows (such as the 2nd pic which I made for a 5 yr old friend), pony streamers, whatever you want! And remember, I have crochet headbands that any bow could go on...so your beautifully bald baby can have a bow on a band now, and use it throughout childhood later!

This last pic is my niece wearing her bow from last year, at her daddy's homecoming last month, from 4 months in Iraq. Just a simple, 1-ribbon design.

I have bows on girls in India, China, other countries that people have sent bows to for their sponsored girls, I have people who have bought bows for their dogs, their dolls. . . but this is the most unique bow-wearer so far. Meet "Lily":

Have I mentioned I just looooove the "dainty" style bow/clippie? Because babies thru teens can wear them, even doggies, they're great for everyday. . . The bow above belongs to a girl in an American Girl book club. I made matching dainties for the girls and their dolls, and Miss A thought it'd be fabulous on her new guinea pig! Her mom sent an email out with this line, "Proof that those cool hair bows have multiple uses!!" Truer than ever! :)

Robots--Something for Girls AND Boys!

This is officially the first item available for BOYS from Sugarplum Boutique! Here's a pic of robot applique shirts I did for Calvin, Fallyn, and their 3 cousins. (Click for larger view) It's easy to find matching sister apparel items, not so easy if you want your boy and girl to match.

Here are the details:

*Infant through children's sizes available.

*Blue robots for girls, and green for boys. Both have an additional layer of brown. Applique is heat-fused and then stitched with white thread. Fabric paint is used for the eyes and mouth. Edges will fray with washing, and add to the applique-charm!

*Your robots will vary slightly from the pic. I decided the way I sewed them wasn't ideal. I cute separate pieces for every robot-body-part, and that was a mistake. I should've used one piece instead. It will still have the same face, shape, and everything...you probably won't even notice the difference, but I felt like I should mention it :)

*Onesies will be $20. T-shirts will range from $21-$25. The shirts I used for all the cousins were $4, $5, and $6 from Target, hence the price range. Just depends on boy/girl, and the size.

*Discount for ordering more than one! Also, the first two customers to order one or more of these will get free shipping!

Thoughts On All This

A few people lately have asked me about where exactly the money goes and how this all works and all... Obviously, there are specific fundraisers that go on (the L family, Sarah's Covenant Homes, the K family). I also do craft shows, bow parties, and custom orders. Rick and I have been thinking for months about how exactly to go about all this and what restrictions need to be in place. In the beginning I started this as a way to raise $ for our adoption, and praise God, He's provided all we need (not all through bows, haha, just a little from that...I mean donations and grants and such)! Now, we wait for all the delays with the country--hoping 2010 will be our year!

I always had plans to expand S.B. to include various orphan projects, and here we are now! We plan to adopt the rest of our children--time and prayer will tell however many that may be, and wherever they may be, and when to start the next process. Since we operate on one income and a tight budget, we'll be starting the next adoption at square one again (i.e., $0). So we've been talking and praying through this for awhile--what to put toward our next adoption, what to put toward other orphan projects... I don't think there's a clear-cut answer.

Here's what we (as in, Rick and I) know:

We will donate from the S.B. account and do fundraisers as we feel led.

Some $ will eventually go toward our next adoption.

We have to be careful about how much time I spend on all this, with the stage our family is at (I'm at home with my kids for a reason!). Rick has said before, that if I were volunteering at some organization, he would not let me put this many hours in. So we need to apply the same principles behind that idea--no matter how worthy a cause may be, there has to be a balance between what's a doable and wise sacrifice, what's realistic, what's healthy for our family, etc. I can't push it to a point where I'm not being faithful with the things God has given me as prioirities--Himself, husband, kids.

Craft shows take the most time. They are also the least personal means of selling (they're not people who know the L or K families, or who have been keeping up with Sarah's Covenant Home children, etc.). For those reasons, we're leaning toward most of what I make at shows going toward our next adoption. It's nice that I'm past the hurdle of making up enough inventory to tote around to shows. My word, last fall was not so healthy for all of us at times as I started my first round of craft shows! Now, I'm able to just devote a few/several busy days to preparing, along with some sporadic workdays, instead of weeks and months.

For a good chunk of time before a show, it goes mostly like this: Rick comes home from work, feeds the kids, takes them to the park, brings them home, gets them ready for bed, tends to laundry and dishes by himself, all while I work on stuff and barely talk to any of them. And during the day I'm just trying to keep them occupied so I can get more done. Repeat the next day, and the next... Then the day of the show, Rick does everything while I'm at the show, and there's another day that we're not spending together.

All that being said, if we felt like we needed to donate proceeds from a show to something else, then we would. Or if we felt like custom orders coming in (not for a specific fundraiser, but just general orders) were getting to be above and beyond the "norm" and I was putting in way more time than usual, some of that would probably go toward our next adoption.

We'll probably just have to feel it out as we go, but for now, we know that craft show sales will probably be for our adoption, because of the extra toll it takes on all of our family. I don't know how to word it so it doesn't sound selfish--it's just about being realistic and wise, really.

I am forever grateful to Rick for all the sacrifices he makes of his time and energy, and his wisdom in this. Folks, he does SO SO SO MUCH when I'm busy with orders or preparing for a show. SOOOOOO MUCH. I can't put enough O's in so to do him justice :) Calvin and Fallyn make sacrifices, too, by being content to play by themselves while I'm busy on bows, being OK with just Daddy taking them to the park, etc. I don't want it to seem like I'm tooting my own horn talking about my sacrifices--they're probably obvious anyway--sleep, a messy house and huge pile of laundry, time that could be spent on something like sewing something for my kids, cooking Rick a decent meal :)

In conclusion--Sugarplum Boutique will always be for the cause of orphans! Part of that will include orphans in particular that will someday be adopted into our family, because gold and silver have I none, but I have bows! :) And, we're basically in the mindset that "overtime" will go toward our next adoption, and what constitutes as "overtime" is going to vary at any given point. Yeah, overtime. That's a good way to put it I think.

I hope this all makes a little sense. I don't know how to word everything the way I want to. I wish I was a gifted, eloquent, expressive writer! Tell me if this does or doesn't make sense!

Help a Child Come Home from Uganda!

Shawnda and Jason are pursuing their 4th adoption (and 5th child), this time from Uganda! They are trusting the Lord to provide a few thousand dollars by early July. Want to be part of helping a child not have to be an orphan anymore?

If you know the K family (or even if you don't!) and want to help this child come home, 100% of your order will go toward their VERY fast-approaching costs. I'll cover the cost of materials. You can browse the pics in the online web album (link in sidebar), or let me know what you're needing and I'll put together a custom order for you. There may be an additional fee ($5-$10 depending on size of the order) for custom orders, since it takes a lot more time to make custom bows, vs a customer buying what I already have made up. There are also the summer dresses a couple posts down that I'd love to get rid of!

Friendly Note: Bow orders are separate from donations. This fundraising venture is simply a way to add to donations. Please consider how you might be able to help financially with a donation to the K family's adoption. What a worthy cause to put some money toward--helping a family help a child not be an orphan anymore!

My Confessions

To be fair, it's my turn to list my confessions (from the extra points for the giveaway). I came up with those because they're ones I do all. the. time. :) Thanks for joining in the fun!

Skipped a teeth-brushing! Frequently.

Haven't put on make-up in the last 2 days! Usually on Sundays, maybe one other time during the week, usually limited to foundation and mascara, and whatever lip gloss happens to be in the van when it's time to pull out of the garage, because I can't even remember to do that in the bathroom.

If your underarm hair is at least 1/4" long! Frequently.

You haven't shaved your legs in 2 weeks! That's why I wore pants to the baby shower Sat, why I wore pants to the Y this morning...

If you got less than 7 hours of sleep last night! Well, last night I actually got more.

If you've ever gone 7 days without bathing one of your kids! At the time of the post, Rick and I realized we had just forgot to bathe Calvin in 8 days or so--not even a good excuse! It's probably been 6 days for Fallyn now...her hair is starting to smell like corn on the cob, her distinctive head-smell.

If you're wearing something you wore yesterday. Extra point if this is the THIRD day you've worn the same article! I was wearing the same shirt and pants for the third day.

Summer Dresses - Updated

I sewed some of these for the show on Saturday. I've never sold apparel before, so we'll see how it goes over. In case they sell out, I wanted to give y'all a chance to purchase one. Once I'm out of the material, there won't be any more of these. I have enough material for 5 of each. Click on the pic for a larger view.

These are way fun and versitile! The top of the material is smocked and nice 'n stretchy. Ribbon ties can be used as regular shoulder straps, tuck the back 2 in and tie it like a halter, or tuck all ribbons in for strapless. Wear it alone or with a white tank or T underneath.

The cherry dress fits approximately 4T to . . . maybe size 7? It's about 25 1/2" long (can make it a couple inches longer if preferred) not counting the ribbon tie-straps, just measuring the material length only. I can make it shorter for a younger girl, you'd just lose the band of clustered cherries around the bottom. It's still be plenty cute, and you could also use it as a top when she outgrows it as a dress. I held it up to my 4 (a young 4) yr old son, who's average height, and it goes mid-calf on him. :)

The floral dress fits approximately size 24 mo - 3T, or an older girl as a tunic-length top! I have one for Fallyn that she'll wear this summer, and once she's outgrown it, she'll have it for a cute top for couple more years! Since the ribbons tie, you can adjust the strap length as your girl grows. I'm tempted to make myself a matching top! OK, so maybe I can just do 4 more of these :)

Harvey (mentioned in the giveaway post) is my favorite movie with one of my favorite actors--Jimmy Stewart baby! ...it makes me all squishy just thinking about it. We've bought 2 movies I think in the past several years, and Harvey is one of 'em.

Back-to-School :: Dresscode :: Uniform :: Fall

It's never too early to think about back-to-school time, is it? At least if you shop early for hair accessories now, it'll be easier on your August budget :)

I made this batch o' bows/clips/streamers for a show this Saturday, held at a private school that has a dress code of navy, white, and hunter green. The fabulous striped ribbon and plaid ribbon is limited, so speak up if you want to snag some of these. They're some of my absolute favorites! I'm tellin' ya, I haven't found other fall-ish ribbons that I like this much.

The striped ribbon has a white background with a brown, burnt orange, sage green, burgandy, and a dark dusty blue. Both the plaid and the stripe ribbon would look great with dress codes that require navy and dark red or hunter green--those seem to be the most popular uniform colors from what I've seen.

If you need made-to-match uniform bows/clips, just let me know what styles you like and what colors you need yours made in. (Of course, if you just want any of these styles in pink polka dots, that's fine, too!) And if you need certain colors but would like a different style, more hoopla, etc., just let me know your preferences.

And don't forget your tween or teen--the "Dainties" and clippies are popular with them! Some young teens informed me of the trend at my first show, and they indeed have sold well to that age group!

The "L" Family : : American Girl

A HUGE Thank You! to everyone who bought bows for the L family's fundraiser. Are you ready for the grand total? [drumroll] .... $1,000! And another group of gals will be having a bow party in June for them, too!

A gal from church had a great idea to help with this fundraiser. Her daughters are part of an American Girl book club. She asked if I would make an American Girl bow for the book club girls and said she'd ask all the parents to order. She told me the A.G. symbol is a white star, and I just happened to have a red/white/blue ribbon with white stars on it. It's the "dainty" style, which is great for any age, baby through older girls. So the girls can wear it as a clippie, and their dolls can have a matching bow! [I was informed at my first craft show--by two 13 yr olds--that little bow-clippies are the latest fad with tweens and teens--and I've sold lots of "dainties" to that age group since then!] THANK YOU Miss S for your efforts, and all the other club moms for ordering American Girl bows! Because of Miss S's great idea, I'm creating the label "Fabulous Ideas" :)

The "L" Family!

I hauled all my goods over to my friend Julie's house on March 14th for Sugarplum Boutique's first adoption fundraiser! The Lord provided more sales (MUCH more!) than I had secretly prayed/hoped for! I should know better by now!!! :) Plus, some more orders are trickling in from ladies who couldn't be there that day. Some ladies who were there are going to host another one in June for them! If you know the L family and need baby shower gifts or bows for your girl in the next few months, I'd be happy to put your purchase toward their adoption fund.

Sarah's Covenant Homes - First "Official" Fundraiser!

It is going toward this little sweetie's surgery needs (There is still a lot that needs to be donated!). Note written Friday March 27: This fundraiser is still "open"! There's still time to get a sweet butterfly and help sweet kids all in one pop. So far a couple hundred dollars has been raised! I mailed a butterfly to Sarah's daughters and all the girls at SCH as part of this project, too!

This clip will stay in even the finest of infant hair, and these buttterflies are perfect for newborns through older girls! I have gals that buy a few at a time just to keep in their "gift stash" because they make a sweet gift for any age child.

Bow Parties

Invite a couple of your friends over for a laid-back time of talking and ordering bows!

What a bow party would look like:

Each person brings outfits and dresses they want matching bows for and/or a list of possible colors or color combinations they want.

I bring my ribbon charts to show you all the options and we choose the perfect match! While I work on one gal's order, everyone can just chat, eat a snack, drink coffee....really it's up to you how much you want to do with your friends!

If you host a bow party, I'll surely come up with some kind of hostess perk! :)

There is no mileage fee for me driving to your house for a bow party.

The time it takes to get your order to you and each lady just depends on the size of each order. I wouldn't be able to give you a very accurate estimate of the turn-around time until the orders were placed, once I knew how many orders there were and the size of each order. I'll contact each person when their order is completed.

PRICES

My prices are based on time and materials. I want to offer you good prices on quality bows, while making it worth my time as well.

Certain ribbons that are more expensive, limited edition, or hard-to-find may cause price differences in 2 bows that are otherwise identical in size and style.

A rush order may or may not add more to the price of the order.

Vintage materials will be higher. I love rummaging for vintage materials at estate sales, thrift stores, and yard sales, and will hopefully be able to offer more vintage styles in the future.

DISCOUNTS/SPECIAL OFFERS

I may offer discounts and special offers from time-to-time. If this were a project just to generate more income for our family, I'd love to offer some kind of discount ALL THE TIME, because I just love a bargain and love to extend a bargain to someone else!!! I hope you will understand why discounts/special offers will have to be sporadic. I hope that you view this as a bargain regardless--helping lives while getting quality bows at the same time. Thank you for your support. We truly appreciate it.

Shipping, Gift Packaging, & Payment

SHIPPING

Shipping costs are rather inexpensive, if shipping just bows, since they are so light. Buyer pays shipping costs. I will ship using the least expensive method to keep your cost as low as possible, unless you specify another preference. Average shipping costs of mail orders I have done so far are about $2.00-$5.00.

GIFT PACKAGING

If you are buying bows as a gift, I can ship to that person's address and package it as a gift for a small fee.

Average gift packaging, depending on the size of the order, is $2-$6.

PAYMENT

Payment is required prior to shipping for mail orders, or on delivery or pick-up if a local order.

Sales tax will be added.

Forms of payment accepted: Check, Paypal, money order, or cash.

How to Order

Mostly what I do is custom orders. At times, I may have some inventory built up due to stocking up for craft shows. The pictures in the albums are just a small sampling of what I have done or can do. ***NOTE: pictures are not up at the moment...***

You can click on the link to the left to see pictures of some of the bows I've done, with details and the price in the caption. You can order one just like one that is pictured, or tell me you like a certain one, but need such-and-such colors, or with one fewer colors, or an additional color, or a sparkle in the middle....you get the idea :)

If you live in the area, we can do a bow "consultation" where I come to your house--or you come to mine--and we go through outfits and dresses and pick coordinating ribbons. The fee if I drive to your home varies depending on miles and time (rough estimate= $0-$7).

There is no extra fee for custom orders. A "rush" order may (or may not) require a small additional fee.

I take on custom orders as my time allows. I am a stay-at-home-mom, and this is a one-(wo)man show, so I can only do so much! Once you contact me, I can let you know if I can take your order immediately or if there will be a wait. Once you place the order, I can give you an estimate of how long it will take me to complete the order.
